Adult and Childhood Neurodegenerative Diseases Conference and Call for proposals (information released: 10-27-2017)

We are pleased to announce a joint conference entitled ”Adult and Childhood Neurodegenerative Diseases: Common Mechanisms and Markers”. This event will take place on December 11th and 12th, 2017 in Bonn at the Auditorium of the new DZNE building (Sigmund-Freud-Strasse 27, 53127 Bonn). The conference is organized and sponsored by the NCL-Stiftung and the DZNE (German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases).

The main goal of the meeting is to learn about common underlying mechanisms between childhood and adult dementias, with a focus on neuroinflammation and biomarkers. The plenary session of lectures by internationally renowned speakers will run from 8.45am to 4pm on Monday, Dec 11th, 2017. Interested members of the research community may attend this session by free registration before November 17th, 2017 at: HERE

You can find the agenda HERE.

The open plenary session will be followed by four closed and per invitation only parallel workshops aimed at identifying promising themes for new future collaborative research projects.

Prof. Pierluigi Nicotera (DZNE), Prof. Jutta Gärtner (DZNE), Dr. Frank Stehr (NCL-Stiftung)

ATTENTION:

We are pleased to offer a new advancement training program. Thanks to great support from the Joachim Herz Stiftung we are able to announce a new grant (100.000 Euro). The so-called Neurodegeneration Award 2018 covers a postdoctoral fellowship salary for two years. The aim is to foster and improve synergies in research on the CLN3 childhood dementia and age-related neurodegeneration. Therefore, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Two collaborating partners must co-apply for the fellowship
2. One partner must actively engage in CLN3 research
3. The second partner must be engaged in research on age-related neurodegeneration

Ideally, postdoctoral candidates should conduct a considerable part of their work in both laboratories. Laboratories interested in applying should first send us a brief Letter of Intent. After acceptance you will be asked to send in a full proposal. The application form is here available. Whether you need help to find a collaborating partner do not hesitate to contact us.

Deadline for handing in all required documents: February 28, 2018

We are looking forward to receiving your application via email to:  Research@ncl-foundation.com

Warm regards,

Frank Stehr
